RootsTech Day #1
The RootsTech conference is amazing. This week, Mom (me, Jana) gets to run away to Salt Lake City each day for the RootsTech conference. As an official RootsTech Ambassador, it’s my job to share with you some of my experience. Here are some highlights from Day #1…
Everything downtown is glowing with RootsTech excitement. The Salt Palace is beautifully decorated, and everywhere you look there are happy genealogists.
I’ve really enjoyed spending time with my nerdy dad, who is also a genealogist. He is a RootsTech speaker this year and will be presenting tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 9th) at 3:00pm in Ballroom E about his blog #ancestorclips.
The Innovator Summit Showdown is an exciting competition featuring new genealogy-related business startups. This year there were many great competitors, and it was fun to learn about their products. We’ve been chatting with some of them and learning more about the great things they’re working on. The top 5 finalists were announced this evening, and I’m eagerly awaiting the Showdown later this week to see who wins the prizes.
The 80’s themed party tonight was entertaining. And one of the best parts of RootsTech really is meeting new friends (and old friends) and talking genealogy all day.
Meanwhile back at home, the kids are completely jealous and wish I had taken them out of school and bought them RootsTech passes. They’ll be here Saturday for Family Discovery Day, but until then, they get to settle with playing with the swag that I keep bringing home.
