FamilySearch’s Recipe Stories
What goes together better than FAMILY and FOOD?
FamilySearch has just launched an awesome new campaign focused on capturing the stories of family & food. It can be found at familysearch.org/recipes.
Our family, like any family, has many memories of gathering around the dinner table or kitchen island to eat and be together. Many of the recipes we use on a regular basis are family traditions.
We tried FamilySearch’s Recipe Story website today. It was simple. We quickly wrote the story of Grandma Hansen’s “Cocoa & Toast” and even uploaded a picture of it. Within just a few minutes, the story was documented, attached to Grandma in FamilySearch’s tree, and shared on Facebook. Try it!
In the past, The Genealogy Kids have made a few videos called “The Genealogy Cooks” based on family recipes. I think FamilySearch may be inspiring us to keep it up. Check out Grandma Losee’s Banana Ice Cream recipe, traditionally served at the 4th of July picnic, and Grandma Hardman’s Peanut Chews recipe, traditionally served at the Christmas Day dinner (and it really wouldn’t be Christmas without them).
